Lips of the dreamers
I did it again, so sorry. Took way too long to get back on here, and have no excuse. She's busy, who cares, get on a computer and lets chat. Well okay!! Like most of you, I wake up and think about lipstick/makeup, and go to bed thinking about lipstick/makeup. And then of course dream of it, what look would be new and exciting? What colors do I think are up and coming, what trends do I think are coming back, and what texture do I think goes best with my skin?? Well for one thing, when it comes to lipstick, of course there are trends, but I mean how many color are there? Red will always be here, now lets make sure these crazy colors that make our hair color stand out stay!!!This is one of the colors I love, but will be soon discontinuing. For the simple fact that every night when I go to bed, I personally DO NOT like cream lipstick. So for the future, as a heads up, the entire line will soon become all matte colors, and if you want some shine just throw on some lipstick. And I also made this decision based on what many of you were telling me as well. We all love matte lipstick. So for me, I eat, breathe, and sleep lipstick, but that is because this is my passion, and I have chosen to make a career out of it. Now for you, while you must throw on your favorite lipstick each morning, whatever it is that you find your heart and mind always leaning towards, just in case you didn't know, that is your passion. You must always go after what you want, what you love. Who wants to wake up in the morning and say "oh, well the job pays the bills". I know I sure don't. So go get it, you know you can.

Mean Girls
SO! Yes I love this picture... I must say the background is a LILY PULITZER print, but I loved it and wanted to borrow it for this saying. Which is very clear and straight forward, and is something that has been bothering me forever. Mean Girls is a movie not a lifestyle. Uh, yea I LOVE that movie, just about as much as I love Clueless, but being a bully is no trait you should be proud of having. And honestly is one of the problems that is seldom addressed in school. Now myself, I was mean to the mean girls I ever came across so they knew not to go there with me, but I also had to stick up for many people who couldn't stick up for themselves. Yea yea, I know a lot of pretty girls think they can do whatever they want cause they have flawless hair... but we have all forgotten about your pretty hair and are now focused on your ugly personality. Now, we are all obsessed with makeup, clearly, but what I really want is for us women and young girls to figure out a way to actually get along with each other. Stop competing with everyone around us, or throwing our insecurities on other people to bring them down with us. Everyone should be happy in their own skin, their own makeup, their own clothes, and with who they truly are. Too many of us make decisions because we are focused on what others think. Have you ever heard the quote "do whatever makes you happy because you will get judged anyways"? Well it's true. WHO GIVES what others think about you. And most importantly, stop bullying each other. Stop pointing and laughing, whispering and giggling... and most importantly keep your hands and hurtful words to yourselves. Let's all succeed and love lipstick together. Let's be real, women are a very powerful force, if we changed the way we interacted, we may one day finally get paid more than men. haha whatevs.. but really ladies lets be nice. And shout out to all the amazing guys that rock makeup better than I do. You are all my heroes!!! muah, STAY TRUE and BE KIND!

Makeup is timeless, so are women and our attitudes
Have you ever noticed how timeless lipstick is? Or even cat eye eyeliner? While colors may always vary based on the era we are in, it never fails that there will always be some similarities between us. I know we all love Marilyn Monroe, with her red lips and cat eye eyeliner.. but have you ever seen photos of Lucille Ball. I mean yea we all watched "I Love Lucy", but it was in black and white. Her face is so timeless and flawless that I can stare at it and do nothing but day dream. Figure out how to create that look, figure out how to take it and make it more bold and modern.. or just recreate it in it's simplicity because of it's perfection from the start. Regardless, lipstick and makeup is something that most of us loud, bold, and competitive females have in common to begin with. I know it's easy to say that we are 'one of a kind'.. which we are.. and we have nothing in common with girls of our generation because most of us are so different.. but wouldn't it be better if we could focus on what we do have in common? If instead of judging people for being different than us, for sinning different, for dressing different, for wearing a different pant size... we could all just BE NICE, for once. I went to FIDM, a school full of mostly females, and with a temper like mine, that could easily be the recipe for disaster. But no, we need to all ignore the ignorance, and embrace the open minded individuals like ourselves. Oh yea, and we must all wear bold lipstick... who needs a mood ring when my lips can tell you how I fell =). STAY TRUE

Be kind, Love lipstick!
So, being the woman that I am.. and being around women all the time, whether it be at FIDM when I visit, or at the mall, or watching all these reality TV shows, it is very clear that women are rude. Now, of course there are exceptions, but whatever, its true. I had been friends with girls growing up, where all they did was talk bad about everyone around them. Someone was losing weight, they would talk bad, someone gained weight they would mouth off. A girl we had gone to high school with was doing really well in life, they had nothing but negativity to repel into the world. Glad to say, I am not associated with women like that anymore, but let's talk about it for a minute. What makes us feel entitled to talk about others.. the way they dress, who they date, the makeup they wear, what weight they are, everything! And the answer is, jealousy and envy. Literally, that's it. Notice you will never have a hater from someone who is doing better than you. JUST SAYING. People who are happy with their lives won't give you a bitch face, they will surprisingly smile. So here's what my purpose is for this brand. We need to represent being kind. If you are a "mean girl", I can honestly say I do not want you associated with my brand. And of course they will say... well your brand isn't even in stores, you're not that big anyways. Well the truth is, not yet.. but I have so much more in store for you to hate on in the future. Just you wait. I am trying to represent kindness, acceptance, a bold and vibrant life in a judgment free environment. So here's to the women who can empower one another, accept others for who they are. The women who are leaders, and use that as a good thing rather than to make everyone feel you are better than them. Here's to you, the STRONG women of today... who also love lipstick. =) STAY TRUE.

ellemichellecosmetics.ecrater.com
Okay Okay, I know. It has been way too long since I have been on here. MY APOLOGIES. I would say I have an awesome excuse like I have been traveling across the world, got married, or went on tour with Miley Cyrus... but, I dont. I have been busy visiting FIDM, guest speaking, going to events to meet amazing people in the industry to help me make this the best lipstick company out there. And I have met some pretty awesome people. Very thankful for the opportunities I have been blessed with, simply because of FIDM. Yes, I love my school. ANYWAYS, I have been working creative wise as to trying to portray this brand the way I want to. Very pure and raw. Empowering, accepting, exciting, daring, and positive. So, I brain storm all the time, do photo shoots, and plan my next move. As far as new packaging and so forth. SO, if anyone has any ideas as to new product colors, packaging colors that stand out to you. Whatever you feel draws you into a product the most, let me know!!! This will be a huge company in due time. One that stands for something positive, and has exciting and bold photos and product.... OH, AND!!! FIDM BLOG, HOLLER!!!
Oh holy bananas!!! Okay, so we all know that I graduated from FIDM... ps you should all go there, but today on their blog was an article published about my line... ELLE MICHELLE COSMETICS!!! I am so proud of this article, and very excited, I've literally been reading it all day.... or pretending to look at pictures so that people can ask what I am looking that then force them to read it too lol. But really, this line has been so true to me as a person, and there are always ups and downs in owning a business, but seeing as I am only about 5 months in... I would say I am doing pretty well. The article portrayed it perfectly, said the important qualities, and leaving room for the company to grow. One of the most important things I want to come out of this line, is for positivity, and women empowering each other to be completely portrayed. I want you to see that within me when you see me, I want it to be present in photos if possible, and I don't want any negativity anywhere near the line. It needs to be real, fun, and genuine. Yes, there are some lines out there that all resemble other lines, or companies that claim to represent something positive, yet you never get that vibe from visiting them in person. I am going to be working long and hard on this company, day and night. I am selling you lipstick yes, but as a brand there is going to be a clear personality running through it that I am hoping many want to be a part of. So join me or not through this journey of EMClipstick, but sooner than later.. you will recognize the name =)..... ps I am posting the link to the article if you would like to read it... GO READ IT!!!http://blogs.fidm.com/my_weblog/2014/04/beauty-grad-launches-elle-michelle-cosmetics-lipstick-line.html

Lipstick is one of those things that while many others may be wearing it, it is so completely personal to you and how you feel. Kind've like tattoos. They are becoming huge, and while most of us have them, no two of us are the same, even if we had the exact same tattoo, it would look completely different on each of us, and have different meanings. Just like lipstick. It is more than just makeup, it is a mood definer, personality definition, and revealing of who you truly are. And with it not being permanent like a tattoo, you can play with it and constantly try new things. The new colors that are out, figuring out how to do the perfect ombre, or get the perfectly shaped lip.. which by the way you just need a good lip brush.. and I have been surprised to find out most people dont know that trick yet lol. Regardless, lipstick is what I turn to to conquer a moment. To help me get that exact attention I was striving for. Whether it's going out to meet new people and you want them to be clear on what type of person you are... or a job interview and you want to reveal how bold and creative you are. It just works, all the time, and never lets you down. #lipstickgang #staytrue #beReal #positive

Whose watching the Oscars??
Are any of you watching the Oscars? I seriously cant help but be envious every time I watch these award shows. Its like going to prom as an adult, but being to win awards and listen to everyone tell you how pretty you look. Ugh, I wanna go!!! And might I add, it's about time Jennifer Lawrence become my best friend. With that being said, we can move on lol. Events like these, if you are obsessed with fashion and beauty, or even just a little bit curious, are what a lot of us live for... trend wise. I love being able to look at someone's face, and wanting to go upstairs to recreate it. And then go to the mall and try on prom dresses but whatever. While we love to watch these things not only to see who wins, but see the best dressed, and to get new ideas for looks, or to just be inspired by everything going on, the beauty and the talent. But let me be honest, while getting "Hollywood's" opinions of whats hot or not is fun... it tends to be something I don't always listen to. Yes, I buy clothing based on trends that are out, but I take them to create my own. I was recently asked why I was having bright and bold colors launched in the winter, shouldn't it be darker colors. Simply, yet politely answered, I let this person know that I will launch whatever colors in whatever season my little heart desires to launch them in. Because I wear colors, in all seasons, because I like them... not because someone is telling me when I am aloud to wear them. Just like I dye my hair black, especially in the summer time. Anyways, I love watching these shows, as I am sure you do too, because I love being able to look at the situations these people are blessed to be in and admire them, or wish I was them so I could put a more positive light on something worth praising. Oh and one more thing.... Sarah Jessica Parker launched her shoe line in Nordstrom!!! My life is complete =)... STAY TRUE!!!!

Makeup at the gym
Earlier this morning I went to the gym... mind you I went right when I woke up so I didn't have any makeup on. But yes, if I go to the gym at the end of the day OF COURSE I have makeup on!! What do you think I'm gonna go wash it off just to go to the gym? Don't be an idiot, lol. Now there is a difference between someone who is going to the gym, with a FULL FACE of paint on their face, and don't even sweat while at the gym, cool thats fine, we can totally make fun of those people lol. Okay, maybe not make fun, well sometimes... lol just understand that you are beautiful enough without your makeup, you don't have to plaster it on before going in the morning, do it after. =). Now, on the other hand.. both when I go to the gym later in the day and I do have makeup on, and to those who lather it on before hand to feel better, lets get down to the honest truth. And I have also had many of my guy friends wonder why girls wear makeup to the gym... and the simple answer is, our makeup looks BETTER when we have been sweating. I don't know if you all have this experience, but I swear my skin has more glow and my makeup is like perfection after sweating. Last June, I had gone to New York with girls from my school, and it was balls hott outside, and I swear we all looked better at the end of the day than the start. lol. Well there you have it, thats why women do not wash their face off before going to the gym. WE LOVE LIPSTICK...STAY TRUE

Loving it!!
So as far as blogs are concerned, I would much rather have conversations than to tell you how to do makeup. Plus, there's plenty of other blogs that are successful in coaching you along the way anyways!! So I would rather be here as a friend, we can have conversations, relate to one another, see resemblances or differences.. Whichever, I don't exactly want to be a teacher. This may be because I was never taught how to do makeup, I had older sisters who I always admired.. But nobody ever taught me how to do anything. I am very visual, which means that is the language I speak. I understand through pictures, so I translate through pictures. Which is why I can appreciate blogs that show you along the way, and especially tell you what products they are using. The beautiful Bobbi Mechelle from Arizona, has a great beauty blog called bobbimechelle@wordpress.com. Not only does she have a great blog, but she was kind enough to use Elle Michelle Cosmetics lipstick, "confident" which is a matte, brick red shade. These are the moments I live for. I love seeing women across the country using my product, and especially enjoying it. And it is extremely fun for me to get to shout them out as well! So this is for you Bobbi, thank you for putting my product on your blog, I very much appreciate your support!!! - Lauren Michelle

Okay, so yesterday I got the chance (for the second time) to guest speak at my amazing school FIDM... I graduated last June, and I am pretty sure I could live there. Anyways, I always find it weird when asked to guest speak, whether it be in classrooms or at open house.. while it is fun, I am not quite sure what much anyone can learn from me in such beginning stages of owning my own business. It is a lot of fun, it costs money, I have to constantly be creative, and I get to share a part of myself everyday with others... which has got to be the biggest reward... that and seeing everyone with my brand and giving me their feedback, that's super exciting. But I find myself wondering if they are thinking "why is she here? she just started this brand, and everything she makes goes right back into the company anyways?"... which is true, and I find myself thinking the same thing. But then I realize, I did just graduate, I am not going to be rich over night, I will probably make mistakes and that is okay because I will learn how to make the brand better because of those mistakes. So yes, I do have something to show when speaking at FIDM, or to anyone for that matter. While I may be in the beginning stages, I am doing something a lot of people are too afraid of doing... and I'm not afraid. I get to make my own decisions, I get to take everything I learned at this AMAZING school and incorporate it into my everyday life. It has been about 3 months since I have launched my own lipstick line. give me three years and see where I am at =).

Let's Get This Weekend Started!!!
So yes, Valentines Day was yesterday, although all I did was sit in LA traffic for about 3 hours.. and hang out with my best friend. But now that it is over, we have a 3 day weekend upon us people!! What should we do? Go to a cabin? Go to Vegas? Maybe Disneyland, or just relax with friends all weekend and eat some cookies!!!! But let's just say we want to go out for a night, whether it be the movies or a club.. which I have been to enough of those to last me a life time, so no thank you, lol. So now you have to plan your outfit, your makeup.. whatevs I'm just gonna wear some sweats, but my hair and makeup will be done so I will be fine. It's true, thats a real situation that I tend to do sometimes lol. Regardless what your plans are, if you want a long lasting lipstick, that literally does stay on for hours upon hours, Elle Michelle Cosmetics lipsticks are extremely long lasting.. especially the matte colors. Anyways, I had stayed out all night a couple of weekends ago with some girlfriends, and I wore my POWERFUL lipsitck (the one in the picture), came home late, went to bed without washing my face... woke up and my lipstick was still perfect as if I had just out it on! Mind you, I did nothing at all that night to smear my lipstick in any way, except maybe eat some chicken wings, but of course I did you can't turn that down! So go live up your weekend.. take a bunch of selfies.. and personally I really like the kissy face... DO IT IF YOU WANT TO!!! I know I will be... and dont forget to put your lipstick in your bra where it's safe =).

Elle Michelle Cosmetics Finally Has a Blog!!!
While there may be plenty of people who know nothing about this brand yet, that does nothing but excite me all the more. There's so much room to grow, so many lives to touch and engage, and most importantly.. so many more lips to MAKE A STATEMENT!!! Yes, of course, makeup in general is one of our obsessions.. notice I said one because I'm totally obsessed with the beach, Sex and the City, tattoos and beanies, but whatever totally not the point right now. Makeup is one the best things to show our individual creativity. Do we want to be bold, sexy, daring women today? Or do we wanna be flirty, girly, with a hint of "thuggish ruggish"? We see each day as a new day to represent ourselves. Whether it be the way we feel, the way we want to feel, or to represent the inner self that sometimes we may be shy to represent. Either way, makeup is by far the cherry on top of the entire look. Our eyes are the secret to our souls, or so we want you to believe... but the lips are the doorway to what we are about to unleash upon the world. So of course, with our mouth being our most powerful piece to decorate, I decided I wanted to start a cosmetic "lip" company. For now, there are ten lip colors. All vibrant, opaque, long lasting, bold, and cruelty free... because more often than not, I like animals more than I like people =). While the brand grows, there will be many, many more lipstick, as well as lip liners, gloss, and whatever else delightfully perfect lip product I can think of. So as of now, I want to say THANK YOU to all of my current customers/supporters, and to let you ALL know, that this is just the beginning.. only one knows what the future brings, and you are all welcome to be apart of this ride that I never intend to get off of!!! Oh, and of course, STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF.
